SACRED GROUND
STORY
Some places hold love until they don't. Sacred Ground is what happens after the pictures are packed up and the rain starts in — when you look back and realize the ground you stood on doesn't mean what it used to.
LYRICS
She packed up her bags one morning
Her leaving took me by surprise
Sometimes you get hit without warning
And the hardest part is knowing why
I guess there’s just some things my heart will never understand
How precious love will slip through unprotected hands
So I packed up all of your pictures
And I took one last look around
I made peace with all of your memories
And I stepped off of sacred ground
And as I walked away the rain came pouring down
And I was trapped all alone, the past echoing all around
So many times we tried, only to see it all slip away
We did all that we could do, still somehow we knew, I couldn’t stay
I watched as it all came down
This sacred ground means so little to you now
(Never understand) my heart
(Never understands) my heart
(Never understands)
