MATTER OF TIME
STORY
The album's closer — calm acceptance of an ending you can already see coming. Matter of Time isn't bitter or angry; it's the honest grace of two people going their separate ways, and the cruelest cut, ironically, being so kind.
LYRICS
You say hello and the cold it cuts me to the bone
We both know the embers glow but the fire is gone
Holding on, holding close to the memory
We belong, lost in a past that could never be
And we both know it’s just a matter of time
You’ll go your way and I’ll go mine
And the cruelest cut can sometimes be so kind
It’s just a matter of time
I’ll forget, just like you I will move on and
These regrets, they will fade to black they will turn to stone
Holding on, much too close to the memory
We belong, trapped in a past that could never be
And we both know it’s just a matter of time
I’ve lied to myself but baby I’m not blind
And the cruelest cut can sometimes be so kind
It’s just a matter of time
And we both know it’s just a matter of time
I’ve lied to myself but baby I’m not blind
And the cruelest cut can sometimes be so kind
It’s just a matter of time
Just like you I will move on
In time, this will fade to black
This will turn to stone
